Be transported to a world inspired by the Surrealist and Dada movements of the 1920s and 1930s. This most unusual evening embraces the wonder, magic and terror of the human subconscious in a luxuriously enchanting and other-worldly experience, created exclusively for Atlas Obscura.

Performance and immersive artworks pay homage to Dali, Magritte and other Surrealist greats in a playful integration of a pantheon of otherworldly performing artists. Emerging in the desolate aftermath of WWI, Surrealism offered a vision full of eros, violence, dreams, anxiety and splendor that powerfully continues and evolves today. Join us to celebrate the magical strangeness of the Surrealist vision at this dazzlingly transportive evening.

Enter the Roger Smith Hotel, built in the early 20th century as a traveler’s bastion of class and creativity. You’ll begin in the stunning penthouse where architect Buckminster Fuller once resided, where you’ll enjoy complimentary Surrealist cocktails, cabaret-style musical acts, roving performance art, a Surrealist photobooth, and visionary film and poetry readings. When your fancy strikes you, you’re invited to have your subconscious read by a fortune teller and be transported to one of the hotel rooms-turned-Surrealist portals for a secret performance.

I’ll be at the piano by the bar.  Where else would I be?

Open bar sponsored by Lucid Absinthe Supérieure and Brooklyn Gin.

Come dressed in your best 1920’s apparel, as your favorite artist or a Surrealist dream-vision.
